2. General principles

This website is deliberately built to collect as little data as possible: no cookies are set, no analytics or tracking services are used, and fonts are served locally from our own server. In particular, Google Fonts are not loaded from Google servers.

3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Netlify (Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit the site, Netlify processes technically necessary connection data (for example IP address, date and time of access, page requested, user agent) in order to deliver the website and ensure the security of the service. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the website securely and reliably). (Placeholder: before publication, confirm that hosting will remain with Netlify and conclude a data processing agreement. If the site moves to a different provider, this section must be updated.)

4. Contact form

If you write to us using the contact form, we process the details you enter (name, email address, optionally phone number, preferred travel dates, message) in order to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (handling general enquiries).

For the technical delivery of the form we use the service Web3Forms (web3forms.com). Your details are transmitted to Web3Forms and forwarded from there to us by email. (Placeholder: verify provider details and data processing once the Web3Forms account is set up.)

We delete your enquiry data as soon as it is no longer needed to handle your request, provided no statutory retention obligations apply (for example following an actual booking).

5. Contact by email and phone

If you contact us directly by email or phone, we likewise process your details solely in order to deal with your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR).

6. Map display (OpenStreetMap)

On the homepage and on the pages “The Area” and “Contact” we embed a map based on OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom).

The map loads automatically when you open one of these pages. This establishes a connection to OpenStreetMap’s servers and transmits your IP address to them. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) in showing guests an immediately visible, easy-to-use way to find us. You may object to this processing at any time, with effect for the future, by contacting us using the details above; our address is also available without the map on the contact page and in the site notice.

7. External links

Our website links to external services, in particular our property profiles on Booking.com. When you click these links you leave our website; the privacy policy of the respective provider then applies.

8. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data: the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and the right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). To exercise them, simply contact us using the details above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority for North Rhine-Westphalia is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information NRW (ldi.nrw.de).
